Last Day of Term 2

Principal’s Report

Thank you to everyone for my lovely welcome back. It is hard to get back into work mode after five lovely weeks of leave. A huge thank you to Ben Ker for taking on the principal’s role and doing the work so well. Also thank you to Mike Lee for giving up his Mondays, working full time and doing a great job as the deputy principal in my absence.

National Volunteers Week

P&C Day WA will be celebrated on Friday 19 May. Falling within National Volunteers Week, this event gives schools and education stakeholders the opportunity to celebrate P&C members and volunteers. A huge thank you to our very busy P&C members and School Board members for all the wonderful work they do for the school in their volunteer roles. It is fabulous to have so much support for the school in our community.

Year Six Camp

The Year Six children have a sense of excitement about them as their camp week draws closer. The children leave here for Dwellingup “Dare Adventure” on Monday 29 May and return on Wednesday 31 May. Hopefully the beautiful autumnal weather will continue for them until then.

Absent Staff

This term sees many staff taking their well-deserved Long Service Leave. It is a requirement of the Education Department that leave is used by teaching staff and ministerial staff within two years of accruement and support staff within three years. Owing to covid restrictions on travel many staff have left it as late as possible to take their leave. All positions will have relief staff filling the roles. Unfortunately, we can’t always secure the same person, so we do ask for your patience and consideration in this matter.

Enrolments are now open for our 2024 Kindergarten program for children whose date of birth falls between the 1 July 2019 and the 30 June 2020. Applications close on Friday 21 July. Once we have confirmed applications, notification of acceptance will be sent in writing.

The Application for Enrolment form can be found on our website under Enrolment, or you can collect a form from the office.

Office Art

We currently have some beautiful art work from Cluster 3 on display in the office. The students' work was inspired by French artist, Claude Monet.

Last Chance to go in the draw to WIN

This is your last chance to be in the draw to win one of the Tudor Uniform vouchers from the P&C. All you have to do is make sure your Voluntary Contributions are paid by this Friday 19 May. If you have already paid your contributions this year, you are already in the draw. There will be a voucher for one shirt, a voucher for two shirts and a voucher for three shirts to be won.

Thank you to the P&C for your continued support of the Hampton Park Primary School community.

Walk Safely to School Day

P&C

Hello Hampton Park families. We hope all our super women had a wonderful mother’s day! We wanted to spoil a special Mum, so we raffled off a big gift hamper on Friday. Each student went in to the draw to win, and the lucky winner was Flynn from PP2. He was so happy to surprise his Mum, Solero after school. Solero and her husband joined our P&C team this year. It’s smiles like these that make volunteering so rewarding.

At our meeting last week, we filled our Vice President position on our Executive Committee. We welcome Elice O’Mullane to our team, thank you for volunteering your time and we look forward to having more support and fresh new ideas to improve our school.

We have a Second-hand Uniform Shop opening next week, Tuesday 23 of May. Joshua our Chaplain and Elena, a parent will be running the shop. It is located behind the undercover area in the back corner next to the basketball court and the nature playground and it will be open Tuesdays & Fridays 8:15 to 9:15 am. There is a large amount of new uniform bottoms available for $5 each and there is a collection of second-hand uniforms for $2 each. All proceeds go back into the P&C to further give back to our students through fun activities and learning recourses. If you have uniforms you wish to donate, please contact Joshua at joshua.benjamins@education.wa.edu.au or drop them off to the uniform shop during open hours.

We have a ‘Containers for Change’ program up and running at school. Students can drop all their 10c bottles into the U Can Recycle bins we have located outside the canteen. Or you can go straight to a collection point and donate your bottles to ID Number C10592823. Help support our school and save the bottles from landfill.

Fundraising and Events

Our Mother’s Day stall was a sell-out. We raised a whopping $1409! Students were so excited; they came running down at recess and lunch eager to buy something. We really enjoyed putting these stalls on for the kids to shop on their own. We will also have a Father’s Day Stall at the end of August!

We have 11 days left to fundraise with Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough. Our goal is to sell 610 tubs, so far 46 students have sold 239 tubs. Just imagine how many more we can sell if more students and families start to fundraise too. Please register today at the link below and make sure you use the ‘Share’ button on your platform to sell more tubs to friends, family, colleagues and neighbours. Also, there are 15 incentive prizes up for grabs, as well as a cookie scented plush, a PS5 gaming bundle and a $10,000 JB Hifi shopping spree. Remember this delicious cookie dough is only available through fundraising, so stock up and fill the freezer for winter baking.
