Last Day of Term 2

Principal’s Report

Welcome back to Term 2. As Mrs Arnott is enjoying some well-earned long service leave, we have been working hard in the office to ensure a smooth transition back to school. We have been fortunate with the beautiful autumn weather so far and we hope it continues as we begin our preparations for winter sports.

Anzac Day

Our annual Anzac Day service was held last week outside the Administration building on the lawn area facing the flag poles. We were very fortunate to have David Beacham, RSL Representative and one of our School Board Members and parent, Claudio Capozzi attend the service. This is a respectful and somewhat sombre service, however seeing our choir perform and a special performance by Ayla, Tai, LJ, Te, and Kaia singing the New Zealand National Anthem, it was fantastic. A special thank you to Ms Moore who worked tirelessly with the students who performed, often giving up her own time to ensure the students felt confident and prepared.

Year Six Bunnings Fundraiser

A reminder that tickets for the Year Six Bunnings voucher fundraiser raffle are available to be purchased by parents or students via the note sent home. Tickets are $2 each five for $5 and there is no limit on how many tickets you can buy. Please return tickets with student name and room number to the office by Friday 9 June 2023. The winners will be drawn in Week 8 at Room 7’s assembly.

Seesaw

Seesaw is our preferred communication platform. This is where teachers will share student’s work samples, photos, provide notifications, and inform you of upcoming events like assemblies and excursions. If you do not have access or there are issues with your login or QR code please email the office and we will address the issue for you.

Road Safety

For children who cross Alfreda Avenue and go under the tunnel, please be aware that the markings on the road are not a cross walk. It is a slow point for car drivers, but they do not have to stop for pedestrians. We have had some children running straight out the gate and across the road, this is very dangerous. We also ask children and adults not to ride bikes, scooters, and skateboards inside the school grounds as it is also a safety issue.

Thank You

I would like to thank you for the heartfelt messages we received from members of the school community with the passing of Mrs Sandosham. It was truly special seeing and reading these and being able to share them with Mady’s family. It provided great insight to her family of how important and respected she was within the Hampton Park Primary School community.

School Assemblies

We had our first assembly for the term this morning in the undercover area. Cluster 4 hosted the assembly, and we were very excited to see what they had been up to. Term 2 Student Councillors were presented with their badges and Term 1 Student Councillors were thanked for their efforts.

Term Two Student Councillors

It is with great pleasure that we welcome the following children to the role for Term 2; Mason D, Chloe O, Jake F, Sofia T, Ana C, and Summer S. We look forward to working with them.

AFL Clinics

Our middle school classes took part in some football clinics at the end of last term. The clinics were run by ex-Docker and now East Perth player, Mitch Crowden.

AFL at Optus Stadium

We had a group of Year 5 and 6 students play football on Optus Stadium before the Eagles versus Melbourne game during the school holidays. The West Australian Football Commission representatives were very impressed with the Hampton Park students' efforts and even more impressed with their manners and great sporting attitudes. Well done to those students and to their parents for taking them to be part of such a great opportunity.

P&C

Welcome back to Term 2! Our team have hit the ground running, you will notice we have lots of events and changes happening this term. Our new menu and ordering system has launched, please see more information below regarding these changes. We are finally able to make some important upgrades to our canteen and supply a better service to you all. Covid has made things difficult in recent years past, but we are now going full steam ahead!

We have a general meeting next week, Monday 8 May at 6pm in the administration boardroom. Please come along and join in the conversation, see what’s happening this term and get involved with your child’s school. We are hoping to elect a new Vice President. Someone who’s passionate, positive and excited to do good things for our school. If you have these qualities and are interested in joining our amazing team, please email P&C President, Keisha, with your expressions of interest to info@hppspandc.org.au

Volunteering is a huge act of kindness and very rewarding. Our volunteers are the lifeline of our P&C Association, we truly couldn’t do it without their support. Thank you for the time you give and the value you bring to our school. Anyone can volunteer and help out; you just have to put your hand up and give a little of your time to a good cause. You can build new friendships, learn new skills, bring happiness to our children, have a purpose and be proud of the good work you do. Don’t be shy, we are all in this together!

Fundraising and Events

Our Fundraising Coordinator has been very busy preparing for our Mother’s Day stall, which has been running during recess and lunch this week (May 2 and 3). It gives students a unique shopping experience and opportunity to spoil mum. We also have a “Big Hamper” to give away! Each student will go in to the draw to win, it will be drawn on Friday 12 of May.

Our next big, exciting fundraiser is “Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough”

Billy G’s secret family recipe is what makes this fundraiser so special. They use the finest ingredients to create a real home-style taste. Every batch is made to the exact same recipe in a nut-free factory ensuring 100% safe recipes with the best ingredients. With nine delicious flavours made from locally sourced ingredients, Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough practically sells itself. Simply scoop, bake, serve and enjoy! It is the perfect treat to keep on hand in the freezer. In fact, it will stay fresh (when frozen) for up to 12 months! Once thawed, you can use what you like, and refreeze multiple times. Or keep it fresh in the fridge for 4 weeks.

Keep an eye out on Friday the 5 May, when we will be sending home all the relevant information about this fundraiser and how to get started!
