Principal’s Report
Thank you to everyone that has been prompt arriving to school this past week. Whilst it is always important to arrive at school on time, it has been even more so with NAPLAN testing. Some of the tests have commenced at 8:50 am and if a child is late, they need to sit the test at another time as a catch-up test. Socially, students feel connected if they arrive on time and teachers will usually give an overview of the day first thing. If a student misses this overview, they are left unsure of what their day will look like and for some children this is difficult to process.
Seesaw
Many families have now connected to the new Seesaw app which is fantastic. If you haven’t already, please sign up as many teachers have commenced sending out messages. I myself sent one to all families last Thursday. If you have lost your QR code please contact your child’s teacher, who will be able to print you a new one. The codes are unique to each child.
Staff Leave
Unfortunately, Mrs Mady Sandosham is too unwell to return to teaching at Hampton Park this year. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mady and her family at this very difficult time.
Harmony Day
Our annual Harmony Day activities have been postponed and will be held on Wednesday 29 March. With NAPLAN testing changing dates from Term 2 to Term 1, we have had to reschedule a few things. Letters to parents explaining the day were sent home with the children on Monday. We are looking forward to seeing the Kung Fu demonstration from the students at Redcliffe Primary School. We are also very excited to welcome back our Long Table Lunch, one of the many activities that was disrupted by COVID. We hope to have as many families as possible participate.
Raffles
We are sorry for the double up of raffles that are currently being run. We do normally try to coordinate the Year 6 fundraising with the P&C’s fundraising timeline. The P&C had planned their Easter fundraising when the opportunity arose for the school to raffle two tickets to the AFL derby between West Coast Eagles and Fremantle. Please see the P&C notes further in the newsletter explaining their raffles.
Year Six Camp
Our Year Six students are going to camp in Week 10 of this term. They are going to the Dare Adventure Camp in Dwellingup. I’d like to thank in advance the staff who are giving up their family life for three days to attend camp with the students: Mr Ker, Mr Lee, Mr Radovic, Mr Evangelista, Mrs Donnetta and Mrs Cunningham. Relief teachers have been booked for Room 4 and for the Year Fives from Rooms 7, 8 and 9.

Bike Club
Last Friday morning before school, we ran the first session of Bike Club. About 25 eager students were invited to join in and learn about the parts of a bike and how to make sure a bike is safe to ride. Over the next few weeks students will learn some basic bike maintenance, how to clean a bike, riding skills and riding safety. It was great to see some parents getting involved and everyone having a go and helping each other. Although Bike Club is now full and no longer taking applications, don’t forget to ride to school on National Ride2School Day this Friday 24 March. Happy riding!

Pay your Voluntary Contributions and go in the draw to WIN
A Statement of Unpaid Billing Items was sent home last week. Thank you to families who have paid their voluntary contributions. These monies go to much needed resources for students.
Once again, the P&C have donated three Tudor Uniform vouchers for tri colour shirts. To be in the draw to receive one of these vouchers all you have to do is make sure your Voluntary Contributions are paid by Friday 19 May 2023. If you have already paid your contributions this year, you are already in the draw. There will be a voucher for one shirt, a voucher for two shirts and a voucher for three shirts to be won.
Thank you to the P&C for your continued support of the Hampton Park Primary School community.

School Board
On Monday 27 February, the first School Board meeting for the year was held. Key updates to the Board membership are as follows:
Mr Xavier Teo was re-elected as Chairperson.
William Lim was elected as Deputy Chairperson.
Ms Jessica Owsiak remains as Secretary.
Ms Sarah Wiley has joined as ‘Parent Representative’ and,
Ms Rachael Roberts joined as a ‘Community Member’ and is heavily involved in Environment House in Bayswater.
In addition, the Board received an update on the Specialised Learning Program (SLP) in which a Coordinator and the required number of teachers have been hired. The SLP Co-Ordinator will be offering professional development to all staff throughout this year. Site building assessment and planning have begun and we look forward to seeing a new building to be developed in the area near the Kindergarten and Administration building.
As we look throughout 2023, there will be updates to the Business plan in our next Board meeting and we welcome any parents to join us at our Board meeting as an ‘Observer’. Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday 22 May 2023 at 5:30 pm in the school boardroom located in the Administration building.

P&C
Hello families and friends!
The P&C have been busy with many ongoing and new projects around school. The most exciting new project to come soon will be Yarn Bombing the School, bringing it alive with colour and creative crochet. We will have more on this awesome project soon!
Our school Chaplain, Joshua will be opening a second-hand uniform shop at school soon. Would you like to help him operate this little shop each fortnight? If the answer is yes, please contact us via info@hppspandcorg.au for more information on how you can help.

Easter Raffle
Our Easter Raffle has launched! We sent home flyers and raffle tickets on Monday. We hope you have received them, but please contact us via Facebook or email if you didn’t. Tickets are $2 each and the raffle will be drawn on Friday 31 March, right in time for Easter the following weekend.
We also have a “Eggcellent Guessing Game” at the canteen before school starts each morning. Have a guess for 50 cents, but with only 80 guesses available and only 1 guess per student you better hurry to have a chance to win! Once there are no more guesses left, we will announce the winner.
Good luck to all who enter and thank you for your ongoing support.

Now is also a great time to buy an Entertainment Membership, 20% of your purchase is also donated to Hampton Park Primary P&C. Click the link today and save!

Hungry Hamptons Canteen
Canteen operating days are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Please order online with Flexischool or at the Canteen window from 8 am to 9 am.
Please remember if you’re ordering online for more than one child, you must place separate orders for each individual child so their lunch will be delivered to the correct classroom. The canteen can no longer accept notes larger than $10 during recess and lunch service.
Our canteen does employ staff, however we can always use an extra hand! Volunteering in the canteen is a great way to get involved at your child’s school and meet other parents in the school community. Can you flip pancakes, prep salads or make toasties?... then you are the one for the job. If you have an hour or so to spare between 9 am and 12 pm, please get in touch with our Canteen Manager Deb at canteen@hppspandc.org.au or simply pop in and see her at the Canteen today!
Scholastic Book Club
Book Club orders will be distributed to students next week!
