Principal’s Report
Welcome to Week 4 of Term 1. The school term continues to be a busy one for everyone.
Student Testing
Some children will already have done PAT testing in reading and maths, some will have done spelling placement tests and the Pre-Primary and Year 1 students are currently undertaking On Entry tests. These tests are all designed to give us base line data to work from. Parents of Year 1 children may have heard last year that all children in this age group would be tested on their phonics knowledge at the commencement of Year 1. The programs that we use here are on the approved list of programs that the government has asked us to use, so we don’t need to make any changes to the testing regimen that exists already.
NAPLAN
Commencing in Week 7 this term, children in Years Three and Five will be sitting a NAPLAN test. NAPLAN stands for National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy. NAPLAN is an Australia wide testing program conducted simultaneously across the nation. Parents of Year Three and Five students will receive more information at the end of this week.
Parent Communication Platform
SeeSaw is coming! As mentioned in the last newsletter we are phasing out the use of Connect and replacing it with a more user-friendly communication tool called SeeSaw. Please keep an eye out for future updates.
School Chaplain
Did you know we have a school chaplain? Joshua Benjamins is our School Chaplain, and he now works on Thursday and Friday. Joshua shares a room with the LOTE program in Room 6. If you ever want someone to talk to Joshua, is more than happy to listen to you or your child.
School Board
There is still time to submit a nomination to be on the school board as a parent representative. Please contact Janice Clamp to collect and return your nomination to.
