Staff Development Day – No Students

Principal’s Report

We have enjoyed working with all of your children this year. Each child is special and unique in his/her own individual way. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be involved in your child’s life this year.

It has been another extraordinary year with lots of twists and turns along the way, certainly we have had many challenges and changes as the year progressed.

We look forward to the triumphs and challenges that 2023 will bring to us.

2023 Staff Changes

Mrs Michelle Avichzer will be moving to Malvern Springs Primary School working with a year two class. Thank you to Michelle, for the input and influence she has had in our school. We wish her every success for the future.

Ms Sarah Bonini’s contract expires at the end of this year, and we thank Sarah for the work that she has done.

Mrs Geraldine Counsel will be on medical leave for Term 1 of next year and we wish her a speedy recovery.

Ms Jade Lewis will be moving to Durham Road Primary School and we wish her all the best for the future.

Ms Kira Clamp has been wonderful working with our Kindergarten children every Monday and we wish her success for the future too.

P & C Changes

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Amy Feleppa for her five years of continuous service as the P&C President. I have really enjoyed working with Amy, her support of the school is unfailing. There are many projects around the school that came about from Amy’s leadership. Thank you, Amy. Amy believes it is time for some one new to step into the role. Amy will still be around in the background to give guidance to whoever takes on the challenge next year. There will be an AGM at the beginning of next year when all positions will be voted for again.

Mrs Robyn Richardson has stepped away as the Canteen Assistant. Robyn has worked in the role this semester, however prior to this Robyn has been a volunteer in the canteen for many, many years. We would like to thank Robyn for all her years of service to the school, it has been wonderful.

Out of School Care

As of next year, we will have a new provider for our out of school care. ‘Theircare’ will be providing on site care before and after school. Please see attached flyers for more information.

Presentation Assemblies

Last week was the Year Six Graduation assembly. Thank you to Mr Ker, Mrs Cunningham, Mr Evangelista and Mrs Donetta for all your hard work in organising this. This assembly was followed by a special lunch at the Atrium restaurant at Crown. The students and teachers all had a wonderful time celebrating Graduation.

On Tuesday we held the Presentation assembly for Year 1 to 6. Congratulations to all of our award winners for 2023.

Camp

This year’s camp was a lot of fun and looked a little different with all the amazing new facilities at the Dwellingup camp. The students took part in a range of challenging and exciting activities that forced them to get out of their comfort zones. The flying fox, abseiling and rock wall forced the students to really display their confidence and resilience.

Cooperation and teamwork was required during the raft building activity. Students needed to build rafts that would hold 15 of them and all they had were barrels, planks of wood, a couple paddles and rope. We all got a sweat up during Archery Tag. In this activity students and teachers learnt how to use a bow and arrow and then were split into smaller groups and competed against one another in a purpose-built field. Imagine a really large game of dodge but with bows and arrows. Parents you don’t need to worry as the arrows had a big rubber ball at the end of the tip.

It would be safe to say that the students had a great time. They ate lots of food at mealtimes, showed tremendous amounts of manners to the safety instructors, slept a little bit…, danced up a storm at the disco, spotted kangaroos in the morning and even successfully navigated their way through the famed Night Walk.

I really want to thank all of the Year Six students for making this year’s camp an enjoyable experience. A special mention to Mrs Cunningham, Mrs Donetta, Mr Evangelista and Mr Lee for sacrificing their own time away from their families to make the 2022 camp a successful one and for providing a wonderful bonding opportunity for the students.

Values Week

Values week so far has been a huge success. On Monday we had an interactive African Drumming session that tied in nicely with our school values and Drumbeat program. The session focused on are the values of confidence and respect.

On Tuesday after the Presentation assembly we did activities that had a strong “buddy” focus. The idea of these activities was to encourage high levels of cooperation amongst the children. Mr Lee on the oval and Mrs Ker in the U/C area were pushing students resilience, persistence and honesty with some high levels of fitness activities.

Technology Day

From the proceeds on Technology Day, we have purchased three of these amazing programmable Lego Robotics kits to be used in our classrooms. These will add to ones we already have which will mean greater access for the students. You may have seen them in action on Technology Day.

It has been heartening to watch the continued resilience and values our Hampton Park Primary School staff, students and parents displayed in 2022.

In what was a challenging year, dominated by efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the start of 2022, the Board was pleased that our student results achieved its targets for Writing, Reading and Numeracy by the end of 2021. These amazing results reflect the hard work of our teachers and students alike.

The Board and the School wanted to ensure our teachers are recognised for their efforts and as such, nominations were open for the “Teacher Excellence Award” and the “Making a Difference Award”. These nominations were advertised in our school newsletter and P&C social media. Nominations were finalised and submitted to the Department of Education.

In August 2022, the Board endorsed the Classroom Placement Policy which provides information on how our students are placed in our classrooms. It aims to ensure that our students are placed in a learning environment that is productive and successful. To further support our students, our school’s business plan ensures staff are continually upskilled throughout the year.

As we progressed towards the end of 2022, the Board were given insights into our students’ NAPLAN results. Our students performed well in comparison with like schools in the areas of Numeracy, Reading, Writing, Spelling, and Grammar & Punctuation scores. Well done to our staff, and Year 3 and 5 students!

In looking towards 2023, the Board and the School have been provided with preliminary information (by the Department of Education) on a new Specialised Learning Program (SLP) for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The selected students will begin the program at the commencement of Term 3 2023. For more information, please visit the link below.

As we close out for 2022, the Board and the School would like to thank our staff, students and parents for their continued hard work, and support. Each of us on the School Board is committed to supporting the delivery of excellent education for our staff and students.

P&C

Another school year over! The P&C would like to thank everyone for their support through the year, your contribution by supporting our canteen and fundraisers has ensured we can put those funds towards the benefit of our school. This year, we made the pledge to send our students on the recent excursion to the Constable Care Safety School, which by all reports was a fun and informative experience for all.

The P&C committee would like to wish you all the very best over the holidays, a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!

Annual General Meeting for 2023

Please keep an eye on our social media for the AGM date early in 2023. The AGM is the annual election of members to our committee. All positions are open for nomination at the AGM, and nominations are welcome from all members within the school community. We strongly urge anyone interested in getting involved to get in touch via our social media channels or email info@hppspandc.org.au for more information.

Without an active and complete P&C committee, we are unable to operate our canteen service, hold events and fundraise for projects, such as the Constable Care excursion. We have several members who are not re-nominating for positions next year, so this is a wonderful opportunity for some new members to join the committee and offer a fresh perspective.

Hungry Hamptons Canteen

A message from our amazing Canteen Ladies!

Thank you for your continued support of the canteen and we wish you a happy and safe Christmas and New year. See you all in 2023!
