Principal’s Report

Welcome to Term Two. In my last newsletter I indicated that I was taking Long Service Leave for the first three weeks of term. Unfortunately, owing to a private matter I have had to cancel the leave for now. Hopefully I might get away later in the year. It is beautiful Autumn weather that we have come back to school to.

Government House

At the end of last year I was contacted by a representative of the Governor’s, inviting us to send a group of students to Government House this year. It is a big privilege to be invited to Government House. The children will meet the current Governor, The Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia, then as well as touring Government house there will be a small concert performed by a music group. Owing to this, we decided to invite the members of our school choir and the children that participate in the School Instrumental Music Program at John Forest Secondary College, to attend this event. The event is this Thursday, the children will also be eating lunch in the Government Gardens. Thank you to Ms Moore for arranging the excursion and for the teachers of the Year 5/6 students for following up on the payments. Parents would you please ensure that your child is dressed in full school uniform on the day.

Flu Immunisations

There are still many places available in the flu vaccine program next week at school. Monday 9th May 9.00-11.00am and Friday 13th May 2.00-4:00pm. The only requirement is that you have a valid Medicare number. Please scan the QR code below to complete you booking. It is not too late.

School Board

The School Board are still seeking an additional Parent Representative on the School Board. If you are interested in being a part of the governance of the school please consider this. If you have questions regarding the position please email the school and someone will contact you to discuss the role. The school email address is hamptonpark.ps@education.wa.edu.au

P&C Secretary

The parents and citizen group, known as the P&C are still looking for a Secretary. The P&C meet twice per term for a one hour meeting. This meeting is held on a Monday afternoon between 2-3 pm. Flyers were sent home last week to every family outlining the role of the Secretary plus information was posted on the P&C Facebook page. Please read and consider taking on the role. Without a fully functioning executive committee the P&C may not be able to continue to operate. This would be to the detriment of the school and the community. The P&C are behind the running of the school canteen, which not only supports our students but those from Noranda Primary as well.

School Psychologist

We are very happy to welcome Mrs Sarah Louella to Hampton Park Primary School as our new School Psychologist. Sarah will be working every Monday. There is a referral process for children to access the School Psychologist. Please discuss any issues you have with your child’s teacher and a referral may be processed following the parent/teacher meeting.

School Assemblies

Under the new operating guidelines for schools we can now hold face to face school assemblies again, hooray! The first assembly is this Wednesday 4th May at 8.45am in the undercover area. The choir will be performing for us.

Term Two Student Councillors

Last Friday the Year Six cohort thanked the Term One Student Councillors and then voted in the Student Councillors for Tem Two. It is with great pleasure that we welcome the following children to the role. Kobe C, Emily D, Delilah K, Matthew L, Bruce N, & Emma P. We look forward to working with them.
