Principal’s Report

Wow, 25 days to go until Christmas! Just like that another year has gone. There are still so many important events to occur in the remaining 14 days of the school year. Please check your Connect notices from your child’s class teacher to keep up-to-date as to when these items are happening.

End of Year Assemblies

There are three main assemblies still to occur and the wonderful news, at this stage, COVID permitting, is that all parents are welcome to attend all assemblies.

The Year Six Presentation Assembly is on Tuesday 7th December at 9am. We have several dignitaries attending to present awards. Mr Steve Watson, Assistant Director of Education North Metropolitan Regional Office, Ms Filomena Piffaretti, Mayor City of Bayswater, the Hon Amber-Jade Sanderson BA MLA Minister for Environment and Mr Xavier Teo, School Board Chairman will all be in attendance. The awards presented include a DUX award, a North Metropolitan Regional Office Excellence award, a Citizenship Award, an Endeavour Award, Two Science awards donated by Woodside Petroleum, a Music Award, a Languages award and a Physical Education Award.

The children from Years One to Six have their Class Book Awards assembly on Tuesday 14th December at 9am. Each class teacher presents two children from their class with a book award, three if it is a split class. The awards are for the highest Academic Award and the Endeavour and Citizenship Award. All parents are invited to attend.

The Kindergarten and Pre Primary Presentation assembly is on Wednesday 15th December at 9. Both K1 and K2 children are invited to attend, plus both Pre Primary classes. The children love to entertain the school with their singing of some special songs. All children in these age groups are given the gift of a book as we attempt to encourage the children in a love of reading.

Summative Reports

The Semester Two summative reports will be available for collection by parents on Wednesday 15th December between 3pm and 3.15pm from the classroom teacher or Thursday morning between 8am and 10am in the front office. Any reports not collected by 10am will be posted home. Thank you to the staff for all the additional work done to create the students reports.

Special Mention

Earlier this term, students from R2 entered a competition being held by Dr Anne Aly, MP and Federal Member for Cowan. The competition was to draw what Christmas means to them. The wining drawing would become the design for Dr Aly’s Christmas cards this year. Asees S’s design was selected as the winning design. This means thousands of families in the Cowan electoral area will now be receiving Dr Aly’s card with Asees’s drawing on it. Asees was presented with a framed copy of her drawing and a $50 gift card at our last assembly.

Noranda Primary School Principal

It is with great sadness that I inform you that the Noranda Primary School Principal, Mr Jeff Murphy, passed away last Friday night, 26th November. Jeff was one of life’s true gentlemen and he will be missed by his school and the wider educational community. As many of our families know we are affiliated with the Noranda Primary School through our School Canteen supporting their lunch orders. Jeff had been on medical leave throughout this year. Our condolences to his family and the Noranda Primary School.

P&C Disco

Many thanks to all the children and families who supported the Colour Fun Run. The final amount raised is in the P&C news section. I would like to thank Keisha Lavigne and her fundraising team for all the work they have done. It is wonderful that the P&C can now give back to the community by providing every child with a free roller disco this Friday night. Next year the P&C are also funding an excursion to the Constable Care Safety House as part of our Health program for every child from Kindergarten to Year Six. This is amazing as it is a very worthwhile but expensive excursion to attend. More information on this to follow next year.

Staff Congratulations

World of Maths Incursion

On Thursday 25th November 2021, there was an incursion at Hampton Park Primary School. Just after 10.55am, R2 and R3 went to the Library. Everyone got a student worksheet and were working in groups. These groups did different activities and rotated and they got to choose what activities they wanted to do. On the student worksheet, there were numbers with titles and a blank space for people to write their answers. They had 1 hour to do the activities so they didn’t get time to finish all of them. Everyone had a fun time at the World of Maths Incursion.
