Principal’s Report

Welcome back to what always feels like the fastest term of the year. While it has the standard ten weeks it always feels like it goes faster than the rest. As I am writing this, there are 69 days until Christmas Day.

Term Four Events

Some events coming up this term include, Year Twos and Threes going to the Historical Village in Kalamunda, St John Ambulance coming to visit the Early Childhood classes, Swimming Carnival for Years Three to Six, welcome to Kindergarten morning for new parents of the 2022 classes, Values Day with water slides and BFT (Big Fun Time) in individual classes to reward those who have worked hard all term. The Graduation assembly for Year Six will be held on Tuesday 7th December in Week Nine, followed by the Book Awards in Week Ten, again on the Tuesday and the Kindergarten and Pre-Primary Presentation assembly on the Wednesday. Reports will be available to be collected on the Wednesday of Week Ten.

Colour Fun Run

One of the big events for this term is a major fundraiser held by the P&C, which is a Colour Fun Run. This will be held on Friday 12th November in the afternoon. Sponsorship forms are going home this week, please check your child’s bag if he/she hasn’t given it to you already. This is a great fun time and I urge everyone to be involved. The P&C will need a group of parents who are willing to throw colour or water on the children. I hope many of you will be available to come and assist.

Banstead Reserve Fencing

The City of Bayswater will be replacing the fencing around Banstead Reserve soon and hopefully some work will be done next year cleaning the sump up. Plants that are not native to the area will be removed and replaced with plants that are native to this area. Watch this space for more information on that when it becomes available.

Student Requirements

Student Requirement lists have been sent home, please remember to place any orders with Campion prior to the 19th November to avoid incurring a late fee. These forms are also available on our website under Enrolments should you require another copy.

Summer Sun

UV rays are at their highest at this time of the year and I urge everyone to remember to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek, Slide.

Staff – Welcome Back

Welcome back to Mrs Gardner and Mrs Horrocks this term. Mrs Gardner has recommenced in C1 and Mrs Horrocks is in C4, Thursday and Friday.

World of Maths

World of Maths is coming to Hampton Park Primary School on Friday 29th October.

Values Day

Values day is always a day that the students look forward to. This term we had a few different activities running.

Basketball Bowling Bonanza was run in the quadrangle and lead by Mr Evangelista. The students had to work together in pairs of students from Years One to Six in a game which consisted of a combination of bowling and basketball.

Mr Radovic ran Boom Boom Time (AFL theme) on the Basketball courts. Students worked in four large teams to solve the stepping stone problem with Rock Paper Scissors.

Hampton Park Trivia was held in the music room lead by Mrs Cunningham. In groups of four, with a range of ages in each group, students had to answer tricky questions about Hampton Park Primary School.

Finally we had Boot Camp on the oval lead by Miss Carrick. Students participated in trying challenging physical activities in partners.

Interschool Athletics Carnival

Our interschool team got to put all their practice into action during Week Ten of last term. Two weeks of lunchtime practice ensured all our natural athletes got time to shine in their jumps, throws, middle distance runs and sprints.

Congratulations to Tahleesha D, 2021 Senior Champion, Roxanna P, Intermediate Champion and Sasha, Junior Runner Up Champion.

Our team games competitors tried hard and some got great reward for their efforts during some red hot performances on game day.

Miss McCrossan’s junior teams placed in four of their six events, Miss Owsiak and Mrs Cunningham’s Intermediates stunned themselves and their coaches when the boys won leader ball and pass ball and placed in the flag relay. The girls were magnificent in their leader ball coming fourth. They came second in pass ball and were close in the flag relay. Mr Evangelista’s senior teams placed in three events and the boys won their pass ball.

Hampton placed fourth overall and a big congratulations go to the winners of the carnival, Rawlinson Primary School.

Mandarin News

Term Four is off to a flying start. We are busy working on language tasks and assessments before our Good Fun Thing, which is another cooking activity towards the end of this term.

During Term Three some of our language students participated in extra-curricular activities ran by the Chinese Language Teachers’ Association of Western Australia (CLTAWA). These events provided great opportunities for our students to engage and compete with students from other schools, both private and public. The first event was the Background Story Telling competition. Derrick L and Rouyi Z represented our school as background language students in the zoom online competition. Their efforts were highly commendable.

Soon after that event came the State Writing competition and the State Mandarin Speaking competition. This year saw an increase in the number of students who were keen to participate and it was a very difficult task to choose between the students. Our school entered a maximum of six entries across the various categories. Chloe O’s work placed 5th whilst Emily S and Abhinav V were awarded Excellence Certificates for their work. We are very proud of these and other students including Shania M, Talia M and Alyssa Y for the extra work they put in to produce work of a very high standard. For the Speaking competition, Maddison M and Abhinav V represented the Year Sixes in category two whilst Shania M and Talia M were in category one for the Year Fives. It was no easy task to face an online zoom audience and deliver their speeches. Abhinav was placed fourth in his year level category. Well done to all our students.

At a separate event, three language students were also recipients of the Australian China Friendship Society of Western Australia awards. Derrick L was there with his family to receive the Cultural Award. Alyssa Y (background) and Shania M (second language) did not make it to the ceremony but were given their awards at school.

It has been an enjoyable and rewarding term as there was a high level of engagement in language activities. The term ended with the celebration of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival with the eating of Mooncakes. Please find attached some visual highlights of the events that took place.

Throughout the term, please feel free to contact me about notices on Connect or even for a chat about your child’s language learning. Thank you.
