Principal’s Report
Finally, we say goodbye to the school year of 2020. It is not one I wish to rewind and play again, however as I looked at all the Year Six children last week at their presentation assembly, I felt that the challenges of 2020 had been met well by the children. Again yesterday at the award ceremony for the children in Year One to Six, I reflected on how well the children adapt to change and what becomes the new normal. They are all very resilient and credit goes to the families and the staff that have helped developed these characteristics in them.

Kindergarten and Pre Primary had their assembly this morning, Wednesday 16th December. All the children have made amazing progress this year, they are such terrific children. To encourage them in their love of reading all children in these class groups receive a book from the school. Congratulations to them and their teachers on their amazing achievements for the year.
Departing Staff
It is never easy to farewell work colleagues and this year is no different. We would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all the staff that are leaving, we wish everyone all the best for their future endeavours.
Mrs Glynis Cardy is taking Long Service Leave at the commencement of 2021 while she transitions into retirement. Glynis is one of two of the longest serving teachers at Hampton Park, she has called this school home for 34 years. There are many endeavours and projects that have occurred at the school that can be attributed to the great work that Mrs Cardy has done here. There are hundreds of children that are better placed in life having been taught by Mrs Cardy. We wish her all the very best for the future.
Ms Sheldyn Garnaut, School Psychologist is taking leave for 2021 from Hampton Park while she pursues her career in a high school setting.
Mrs Tanya Druzianich has been successful in being merit selected to a permanent position at Caversham Valley Primary School.
Mrs Maria Dunn, Manager of Corporate Services, is taking Long Service Leave during 2021, returning in term four.
Mrs Lawana Williams and Ms Jessica Collins have both been terrific additions in our Education Assistants ranks, we wish them well for the future.
Ms Leah Fraser, has been with us for four months replacing Mrs Pitchen who was on Long Service Leave, we wish Leah all the best for the birth of her first child.
There are some teaching staff movement from within the school as well.

Yvonne Arnott
Principal
School Board
Dear Parents/Carers/Guardians,
It’s the last week of school for 2020 and I trust your children are looking forward to the school holidays.
The Board had a light agenda for our last meeting for 2020, held on 9th November.
We spent some time discussing and finalising the top three school improvement infrastructure projects to provide our current Member for Morley, Ms Amber-Jade Sanderson. This is in response to her email requesting for suggestions to provide around $30,000 for a specific item at the school as part of her Party’s Election Commitments.
Please find the following projects we have submitted for consideration in order of priority:
- New shelter at Kiss and Drive
- Extended shelter to Kiss and Drive
- Shades in School Quadrangle
As Yvonne mentioned in the last school newsletter, there will be two parent representative Board positions which require filling in 2021. Please feel free to contact me on xaviertjl@gmail.com if you are interested or have any questions regarding the position.
I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the school’s leadership team and staff for the ongoing positive influence they have made to the students and school.
I would like to also send my deep appreciation to my fellow Board members, school community and staff for supporting me as Chairperson of the Board. I look forward to my continued contribution and service to the school in 2021.
Have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Kind Regards,
Xavier Teo
Board Chairperson
Values Day
The children had a wonderful time playing on the water slides for Values Day.

Final Mandarin News 2020
You would have probably heard from your children about the marathon Chinese cooking we have had at school over the last couple of weeks. If you have not, here is a very brief update on it. It was such a huge hit with all involved. There was food for the entire school family. Everyone has had a go at making the spring rolls many times over. The fried noodles also went down very smoothly for the Monday classes. It was such a pleasure to teach our students to prepare and cook the dishes. It was even more satisfying that they very appreciatively enjoyed eating the spring rolls and fried noodles. In fact, they wanted more. I am hoping they will go home and encourage you to have a go at making these Chinese foods. Happy trying and cooking!
I would like to say a big thank you to Ms Kirk, Aiden N’s Mum who not only sacrificed two hours of her precious time on her day off to come in to school to help out with the cooking, but she has also very generously donated a brand new deep fryer and a skimmer to our school. Thank you for this kind and generous gesture.
My appreciation also to Mrs Todd, Mrs Kustra and Miss Collins for giving up their precious time to help with the preparation for the cooking activities. A huge thank you goes to the two volunteers from the Confucius Institute for their help with the cooking too, Ms Xiao on Tuesday and Ms Zhou on Monday.
I have attached a few pictures that captured the fun and excitement we had over the four fabulous days of cooking and eating. As the year draws to a close, I would like to wish every family a safe and wonderful Christmas and New Year.

SciTech Incursion
Years One and Two had an interactive SciTech incursion on Friday 4th December. They enjoyed exploring what happened when they combined different ingredients. A lot of them were eager to test out these experiments in their kitchens at home.
