Principal’s Report
With only two newsletters to go for this year I would like to take this time to say a few “Thank You’s” and to inform the community of some Staff changes. There are also two upcoming events that I’d like to bring to your attention.
Staff 2020
Mrs Amanda Webb has been merit selected as the substantive Deputy Principal commencing in January 2020. Amanda has many years of experience as a Deputy Principal plus significant experience as a Principal. Amanda will be joining us next week when staff are involved in reviewing current planning documents and creating new documents for 2020. I look forward to working with Amanda again.
Mrs Wendy O’Neil will be absent from the school for 2020. Wendy is spending most of next year travelling with her husband and we wish her happy and safe travels.
Ms Eleanor Smith will be leaving the school at the end of this year. Ms Smith is returning to England for 18 months. Again we wish Ms Smith a wonderful time and hope all goes well for her time there. Hopefully our paths will cross again one day in the future.
We have recently had some enquiries about which teacher is assigned to which class and which child is assigned to each class for the 2020 school year. While the school is currently working on creating the class lists, the information is not given to parents until the commencement of the new school year. This is done to avoid any disappointments that may occur if structures have to be changed late in January due to changes in numbers or Teacher’s contracts.
Christmas Disco
The P&C are preparing to hold a Christmas disco this Friday night the 6th December. Flyers have been sent home regarding this. As part of the disco the children will have their Technologies and Enterprise items that they have been busy creating available for sale. The tables will be set up on the verandas outside Rooms 8 and 9 and the Computer Lab. Many of the items the children have made would make great Christmas presents or stocking fillers. In order to manage the sales, we do need the assistance of some parents or responsible older Siblings. If you are able to assist, please contact either your Child’s Teacher via DOJO or contact the Office.
Also at the Disco, the P&C are having a fire sale of any of the ‘unbadged’ school uniform items that they still have in stock. These are items that don’t have the school logo on them, like shorts and track pants. The P&C are also looking for volunteers to assist at this stall.
End of Year Presentations
At the end of each year we hold three different presentation services. While they are for different age groups all parents are welcome to attend any or all of the services.
The first presentation assembly is the Year Six “Graduation Service”. This is on Wednesday 11th December at 9am. While awards are only given to Year Six children at this assembly, it is good for younger children and their families to hear the type of awards that are given so they know what they can aspire too in the future.
The second assembly is Tuesday 17th December at 9am. This is for the Year One to Six classes and is for the Highest Academic and Greatest Effort awards to be given out. Again, all parents are welcome to attend. Letters will be sent to families where a child is receiving an award.
The last assembly is the combined Pre Primary/Kindergarten concert. This is to be held on Wednesday 18th December again at 9am. The school donates a book to every child in Pre Primary and Kindergarten as an encouragement to develop a love of reading.
All assemblies are to be held in the undercover area. We will have a stage and hired chairs for parents and families to sit on. I look forward to seeing as many members of the community at the assemblies as possible.
School Board and Parents & Citizens
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the School Board and the P&C for their donation of time to the school over the year. The School Board play an important role in the Governance of the school. At the commencement of next year an invitation will be sent out to all parents calling for nominations to be a parent member of the School Board. There will be three vacancies arising. This is a formal process and parents will be requested to return their nomination forms by a certain date. A vote will then be taken at the first Board meeting for the year. Information about the School Board can be found on the school’s website at the link below. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday 19th February at 5pm.

The P&C are an integral part of the school community. They are mainly seen as a fundraising arm of the school, however they do also manage the school canteen in respect to the employment of staff and setting of menu items. Most of the fundraising the P&C work on feeds back into the beautification of the school grounds. A major item that the P&C have been working towards raising funds for is a shade structure over the limestone terracing to the school oval. The list of events that they have managed this year is very extensive, so as well as thanking the individuals involved I would also like to thank all the families that have supported those events.
One special thank you goes to Robyn Richardson. Robyn has worked as the Scholastic Book Club Coordinator this year. Thanks to Robyn the children have access to order many books at a reduced cost.
A massive thank you must also go to the wonderful numbers of parents/grandparents who constantly give their time to assist in the classrooms or elsewhere around the school in various roles. The school life wouldn't run as smoothly without you. The class teachers all value any time that you are able to donate, please keep up the great work in 2020.
My last special thank you is to my Staff. The staff at Hampton Park Primary School are tireless in their devotion to the school. Both in the improvement in educational outcomes for students and in student personal growth and development. I would like to thank them for all the additional hours that they provide to ensure this occurs for the students.

End of Year Chinese GFT 2019
Our Chinese GFT (Good Fun Thing) will commence on Monday 9th December 2019 (Week Nine). We have decided to make, cook and eat dumplings. They are going to be little morsels filled with chicken mince and Chinese cabbage. Please let me know if your child is unable to take part in the activity due to dietary concerns. If you are able to help out for an hour or two, especially during your child’s class, please contact me. It will be most appreciated.

Christmas Cards and Gifts
Whilst we love seeing children spreading the joy of Christmas through the giving of cards, candy canes and the like we ask that this is kept for the last week of term. It can be quite disruptive to the class. We appreciate your co-operation with this.

School Artworks Project
If you have taken a walk around the school lately you will have seen that what were boring brick walls have now been brightened up with some beautiful artworks! All credit goes to the talented artists – Stephie Crosby, Nicole Cotterell (with assistance and supplies from Bunnings Bayswater) and Keryl Firby.
With your support the P&C has been able to fund the publishing of Keryl’s designs, which can be found along the verandas, in the undercover area and in the toilets. As well as supplying lettering to compliment Nicole’s artwork at “Hungry Hamptons” canteen.
Keep your eyes peeled for more works that should be appearing in the coming weeks!
