Principal’s Report
As expected this term has had many wonderful events taking place and more still to come. Thank you to everyone for their wonderful involvement in ‘Book week’ last week. The children looked amazing in all their costumes. The treasure maps were terrific and the treasure boxes were extremely creative, making judging very difficult.
The School Choir represented HPPS on Friday 17th August in the One Big Voice event. The children did a wonderful performance, thank you to Mrs Fiona Cunningham on all the amazing work you did in training the awesome choir for this event.
Weather permitting this Friday is our main Faction Athletics carnival. Hopefully all children will be able to wear a shirt in the colour of their faction. If you are unsure of your child’s faction please contact the front office.
School Survey:
Early next term you will be invited to take part in a School Survey. The survey is conducted every two years in accordance with the Education Departments regulations. The survey is a very important tool that influences planning at the school. This year some extra questions are being added to personalize the survey to Hampton Park Primary School. Please note the survey is completely anonymous. An opportunity will be given for parents to complete the survey in paper form if on line is not an option for you. More information will follow closer to the date.
Nature Playground
We were privileged to have a visit last week from the Hon Dave Kelly MLA BA and Ms Amber-Jade Sanderson MLA BA as they visited the new Nature Playground. MS Sanderson and Mr Kelly previously visited the site before construction was commenced. They were both extremely impressed with the finished work. The construction costs had been subsidized by the McGowan Labor Government, Local Projects, Local Jobs funds that we received last year.

Public Speaking Competition
On the 15th August we held our annual Public Speaking Competition. The judges were Mrs Jo Carroll and Mrs Kelly Horrocks. They both were impressed by the quality of all the speeches. Congratulations to all the finalist who spoke with clarity and expression on the day.

One Big Voice
On Friday 17th August our wonderful, dedicated and passionate Year 5 choir represented us at the Matinee performance at the One Big Voice concert at Perth Arena. Along with 2000 other students, our choir sang 11 songs for a large and appreciative audience.
Our students were absolutely wonderful and conducted themselves professionally and capably, singing many songs with accompanying parts, harmonies and actions. I couldn’t be prouder of their efforts and behaviour.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank these wonderful kids for their enthusiasm and hard work and also to their fabulous families, many of who were able to be in the audience and cheer us on. A big thank you to Mrs Fraser for all of her wonderful assistance and to Mrs Arnott and the Hampton Park staff for their support and encouragement.

Cluster 4
In Cluster 4 we have been learning all about animals. We have been working really hard on writing Information Reports. We carefully read a non-fiction book and then brainstorm as a class. We then use the information we have read to put into our information reports. We have learnt to edit and check our spelling and grammar. Once we are happy we then publish and create amazing work!! Here are our WOW workers for the week.

Book Week
We have had lots of fun with books this week and on Wednesday many of the characters that we have grown to love and cherish had stepped out of their books and into our assembly area. The students had a very exciting week hunting for treasure and creating treasure maps and chests. A very big thank you to all of the families and school community for participating and supporting this incredible week!
Community News
Helping Hands after School Care
We are having so much fun at Helping Hands learning about different cultures, our recent themes have been Italian and African! One of our major focus' this term is community and how we can help others. Through brainstorming and research the children have decided that they would like to donate to an animal shelter. We have chosen APS or the Animal Protection Society as we will be going in to visit the shelter and interview the volunteers later this term. When we go in we would love to be able to take in some supplies with us as they are a not for profit organisation.
The items we are currently collecting are
- dine/fancy feast/whisker's tins and sachets
- clay or rolled paper kitty litter
- whiteboard markers
- pens
- copy paper
If you can spare any of these items we would love to take them to APS on your behalf and help these wonderful volunteers.
You, can also donate via their website

Thank you
