Principals Report

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

As there won’t be another newsletter until after Easter, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a relaxing and safe Easter break. Owing to the School Development Day on March 29th and Tuesday 3rd April being a public holiday for schools, the students will have a six day break.

On Wednesday 14th March the school community was highly entertained by an amazing performance from the students in room 7 as they presented their assembly item. Various components of the item had been videotaped by the students in the preceding weeks and then bought together with live performance on the day. Congratulations to Mr Goddard and the Room 7 children on a fantastic assembly. Congratulations also to all the merit certificate winners and the winners of Value Awards. Great work everyone.

Many children are looking for opportunities to display Random Acts of Kindness, it is terrific to see as it helps to build the school culture to be caring and sharing. Well done everyone.

Smith Family and Savings: Please see attached a letter to all families regarding support to families to assist with educational needs. The Saver Plus program is a national matched savings and financial education program that assists people to save for education related expenses, by matching their savings dollar for dollar up to $500.

Cupcake Thank you: Thank you to all the families that responded to the canteens request for cupcakes to celebrate St Patricks Day, it was a huge success.

Harmony Day: A reminder that the Long Lunch Table is happening today as we celebrate Harmony Day. Parents are invited to attend with their child/children.

Crossing on Beechboro Road: The Main Roads Department, the WA Police Dept, the City of Bayswater and representatives from Hampton Senior High School and Hampton Park PS meet at the end of February to determine the best site for a children’s crossing with a guard before and after school. Owing to a variety of factors that were taken into account the best site was deemed to be just south of Hamersley Ave, which is the main location that the high school children cross Beechboro Road at. The implementation time line has not been discussed at this stage.

CAHDS

The Complex Attention Hyperactivity Disorders Services will be offering a series of parent information session. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Room 8

Room 8 has completed an art piece called the summer sunset. This has been done to reflect and represent the weather over the Summer Season. The children have been able to create depth in a 2D picture through simple shading and blending of colours. The children used water coloured pencils to be able create the intricate blend of colour to create the background for their summer scene. We then went over the drawing with a simple water wash to complete their art piece.

Year 6 School Of Instrumental students

We are very proud of the six students who have successfully gained a position in the SIM program at John Forrest Secondary College. These students will attend weekly lessons in a variety of instruments. We look forward to hearing them perform later in the year. Congratulations to the following students: Tamara Dixon (vocal), Jenna Basquina (vocal), Jazmyn Soo (vocal), Amar Abdelwahab (trombone), Jaxon Russell (guitar) and Cody Smith (flute).

STEAM Club

Thank you to all the students who put in applications to join the after school STEAM Club. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths. There were an amazing number of applications and we wish we could take everyone. Notes to the lucky students who have been accepted into the club went out last week. The first session will be on Wednesday the 28th of March so STEAMERS get ready to STEAM ahead.

Year 6 Graduation

This year the Year 6 students are fundraising at school to defray the cost of the Graduation at the end of the year. The Graduation is an important event in the student’s school career and is one that we don’t want any of the students to miss. The fundraising activities will be part of the curriculum covering a range of subject areas including but not limited to, Art (designing and producing promotional material) Maths (financial planning, catering for expected sales) English (writing promotional material, speaking to classes and at assembly) HASS (economics, profit and loss, market surveys).

We are having a stall selling Zooper Doopers for 50 cents on Tuesday 27th March.
