Principal’s Report
We were very happy on Monday to welcome back Mr Ben Ker. Ben enjoyed his time at Waddington PS. A big thank you to Mr Lee who filled in so well here for Ben.
The taking of the annual school photos is next week, most classes will be completed on Wednesday 14th August and Kindy 2 will be taken on Thursday 15th plus any students who were absent on the Wednesday. All students need to wear their tri-colour school shirts, hopefully freshly laundered, and an extra brush or two of their hair would be great as well. Faction captains and Vice Captains will have their photo taken on the Wednesday as such they need to bring their faction shirt to school to change into. The Year Six students also need to bring their Leavers Shirt in on Wednesday to change into for their graduation photo. Parents are reminded that all orders are completed online.
School Dress Code
It has come to my attention that some children are wearing fake nails or nail polish to school. Under the Health and Safety section of the dress Code it states, “No fake nails to be worn at school, and nail polish should be avoided where possible as staff need to see blood supply to fingertips of students if there is an incident that effects the arm or hand.” Please ensure that if nails are applied or painted for something special on the weekend that they are removed for school on the Monday. A copy of the school Dress Code can be found on our website. Hampton Park Primary School (hamptonparkps.wa.edu.au) under the enrolment tab.
Book Week
The theme for Book week this year is Reading is Magic. Children are invited to come dressed in their favourite story book character. There will be a parade of all the children from Pre -Primary to Year Six by each class during that week’s assembly. Open2view are again sponsoring the parade. Any child that dresses up will have their named placed into their year level’s box and then one lucky child from each year level will have their name drawn out of the box. The prize is a $50 voucher to spend at Dymocks. We thank Open2view for their generosity in providing these prizes. The parade is on Week Six during the morning assembly.
Worm Wiz
Please come prepared to purchase many litres of Worm Wiz after the Book Week Assembly. It is $1 litre and all funds raised go to help the Year Six fundraising. Worm Wiz is a by product from our worm farms and is a fantastic fertilizer for all your plants and lawn.
Author Visit
Next Friday 16th August Mrs Salleo has arranged a visit from a local Perth Author, Chenee Marrapondi. Chenée Marrapodi is an Australian writer and podcaster. She has worked in media for many years, currently for Channel Nine News, and formerly as a reporter for Channel Seven’s Today Tonight, as well as online news and radio. Chenée’s love of words is rivalled only by her love of dance. Combining the two, One Wrong Turn is her first novel. We are very fortunate to have her visit. Further information to follow.
