Principal’s Report
Hello families, I hope this newsletter finds you all well.
Covid in the Community
You may have read in the weekend papers about the rapid rise in Covid numbers again. We have had several staff and students testing positive in the last few weeks. The new strain is presenting with different symptoms than previous versions. Please be vigilant in testing your children if they are unwell.
Staff Leave
There will be a larger than normal number of relief teachers at the school in Week 10 and 11 as many staff are using their Long Service Leave at this time. We are doing our best to ensure this won’t be too disruptive to the school.
Western Power Outage
Western Power are planning a power outage on Tuesday 18 June, and we have been advised that this will affect the school. I have contacted Western Power and they are looking at options to support the school so that we can be business as usual on that day. I will keep families updated via SeeSaw when I know more.
P&C Volunteers Needed
If you have one to two hours to spare on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning the P&C would love to hear from you. They are desperate for volunteers in the canteen on those days. Please contact the P&C if you can help, their contact information is further on in the newsletter.
Reporting to Parents
As per last year, reports will be given to students in PP to Year 6 and K2 to bring home on Wednesday 26 June, K1 will receive theirs on Tuesday 25 June. If your child is away that week their report will be posted home on Friday at 10am, you are welcome to collect it from the office prior to 10am on Friday should you choose.

Library News
Thankyou to those students that have made the effort to bring overdue books back. Please be considerate of others wanting to borrow the same book to read and make the effort to return your books on time. These books are for all students to enjoy. As I type this today, we have over 130 overdue books and over 25 that are 40 days overdue.
New Challenge Coming
Watch this space for a new challenge for classes coming next term!
Chess Tournament
The chess tournament is well and truly underway with the Year 5’s showing they are the ones to beat! We saw Xavier (R8), take the win over Mutahir (R6), Zeyu (R6) and Jackson L (R5) had a fantastic back and forth match with Jackson finding checkmate just before the siren sounded. The final match between Logan (R7) and Yash (R9) saw a gruelling blow for blow game with Yash taking the win on the siren! The semi-final begins on Thursday of Week 8 and is sure to entertain! Look for more updates in the coming library newsletters. Here are some pictures from our opening day of competition.
Premiers Reading Challenge
Please encourage your children to join the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year. Not only will it help your child/ren with literacy, but also the joy of reading lots of wonderful books. I have books on display that might help them get started. There are novels and picture books to choose from with stickers that will help identify the books. Any book that your child/ren read/s can be entered and should be eligible. Please check the website for more information regarding this.
WAYRBA
We have been reading lots of WAYRBA picture books and voting on them. The students love to listen to them being read and then voting, I also have fun reading to the students. We have some very good picture books this year. Some students have also taken books home and voted on them.

P&C
What is a P&C Association?
Parents and Citizens (P&C) Associations are vital not-for-profit organisations supporting public schools. They are a group consisting of parents and citizens in a school community, whose purpose is to assist the school and promote the interests of the entire school community. Typically, P&Cs provide schools with support, including fundraising, community events, classroom resources, running canteens, uniform shops, book clubs, and basically anything the school needs that they can help with.
Our next P&C Meeting is on Monday the 10 of June at 2 pm in the office boardroom. Every parent and citizen of Hampton Park Primary School is welcome to join us. We always love to see new faces and connect with new families. Being involved is so rewarding and good for your wellbeing.

Canteen
OPEN TUESDAYS & WEDNESDAYS FOR RECESS & LUNCH!
Spriggy Schools Online is the only way to order food from the canteen. The app is very easy-to-use that even the children can place their own orders. www.spriggyschools.com.au
REMINDER: All recess orders need to be picked up from the canteen by each student who has an order. All lunch orders are delivered to each classroom and handed out by the teachers. We also have the canteen window open during recess and lunch for drink/treat sales, prices range from 50c - $3.50.
HELP US PLEASE! We need volunteers to help in the canteen. Mums, Dads, Carers, Grandparents, even your older child who might need some work experience and free training! Please reach out and come join in the fun! The children absolutely shine seeing their family in the canteen helping out. All our volunteers receive a $5.00 canteen voucher each time they help, this can be redeemed for your own lunch or your child’s. We generally need help between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm but any amount of time is greatly appreciated. You can also log your voluntary hours towards the child care subsidy. We also provide you with free training and qualifications, which can be handy for other opportunities in your life. You can contact us via email info@hppspandc.org.au for more information, we are happy to answer any questions you may have.
Second Hand Uniforms
We are seeking donations. If you have any uniforms you wish to donate, we would greatly appreciate them to be able to continue to provide this service. You can drop them off at the office or to our amazing uniform shop volunteers during open hours. Thank you for the continued support.
Scholastic Book Club
The P&C run Scholastic Book Club! Up to twice a term Book Club catalogues are sent home with students. You will find a wide range of books for all ages and reading levels. Every purchase you make on Book Club earns our school 15% of the order value in Scholastic Rewards. We use these to purchase more books and educational resources for the school.
BOOK CLUB ISSUE 4 OUT NOW - Catalogues went home last week. Place orders online through LOOP or please drop cash orders into the Library Box by Friday the 7 of June.
